For The Win makes third contribution in three years

From the early days of his fight against Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), Russ Brown was concerned about the urgent need for new therapeutic alternatives and was determined to start a foundation to fund increased research to that end. And while Russ passed before the foundation was active, his family and friends have continued to pursue this dream.
To celebrate Russ’ Birthday on January 11th, For The Win made another donation of $50,000 to the MD Anderson Cancer Center and, in so doing, will be recognized as a major donor at the #1 Ranked Cancer Center in the world. Russ would be very proud!
And, he would be encouraged to see the progress being made. New drugs, more effective drugs that combat resistance to treatment, and the development of cellular therapies are just some of the advances being pioneered at MD Anderson.
"The progress we've made this past year has been transformative. We are excited about the many new therapies for AML and the impact they will have for our patients. Thank you For The Win, we are grateful for your support," said Dr. Guillermo Garcia-Manero of MD Anderson Cancer Center.
This gift of $50,000, made possible by the generosity and support of many, is helping propel new clinical trials aimed at improving outcomes – especially for those patients (like Russ) who face drug resistance and disease relapse.
Dottie Brown, Russ' wife and For The Win Board member said, "together we are making a difference. Together our support will enable the realization of substantial treatment breakthroughs in the next three to five years. Together we will achieve Russ’ dream."
