After earning his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zaragoza, Spain, in 1991, he completed a clinical internship and residency (1996) and a clinical fellowship in hematology and medical oncology (1999) at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Garcia-Manero then joined the faculty at MD Anderson in 1999. Since then, he has been the principal investigator, co-investigator or collaborator for a large number of research projects and protocols.
